Annie’s song….

ocean

You fill up my senses….

image

ANNIE'S SONG

You fill up my senses like a night in a forest
Like the mountains in springtime, like a walk in the rain
Like a storm in the desert, like a sleepy blue ocean
You fill up my senses come fill me again.
Come let me love you, let me give my life to you
Let me drown in your laughter, let me die in your arms
Let me lay down beside you, let me always be with you
Come let me love you, come love me again.

Country Roads….Take me home…

grey clouds

Take Me Home, Country Roads
Almost heaven, West Virginia,
Blue Ridge Mountain, Shanandoa River,
Life is old there, older than the trees,
Younger than the mountains, blowing like a breeze

Country Roads, take me home
To the place I belong,
West Virginia,
Mountain mamma,take me home

image

Country roads
All my memories, gather round her
Modest lady, stranger to blue water
Dark and dusty, painted on the sky
Misty taste of moonshine, teardrop in my eye

image

Country Roads, take me home
To the place I belong,
West Virginia,
Mountain Mamma, take me home

country

To the country roads
I hear her voice in the morning hour she calls me
Radio reminds me of my home far away
Driving down the road I get a feeling
That I should have been home yesterday, yesterday

image

Country Roads, take me home
To the place I belong,
West Virginia,
Mountain Mamma, take me home
Country roads

image

Country Roads, take me home
To the place I belong,
West Virginia,
Mountain Mamma, take me home
To the country roads

image

Take me home, that country road
Take me home, that country road

Sunshine On My Shoulder
- John Denver

sunshine, on my shoulders - makes me happy

sunshine, in my eyes - can make me cry

sunshine, on the water - looks so lovely

sunshine, almost always - makes me high

if i had a day that i could give you

i'd give to you a day just like today

if i had a song that i could sing for you

i'd sing a song to make you feel this way

image

sunshine, on my shoulders - makes me happy

sunshine, in my eyes - can make me cry

sunshine, on the water - looks so lovely

sunshine, almost always - makes me high

image

if i had a tale that i could tell you

i'd tell a tale sure to make you smile

if i had a wish that i could wish for you

i'd make a wish for sunshine all the while

English translation

your expanse is unreachable, the public on both sides is wailing silently
O Ganges, why do you flow

morality is destroyed, humanity has been corruptedwhy do you flow in this shameless way

the call of history is roaring Oh flow of Ganges, why don't you make the weak people stronger, make the villagers unite to fight for their rights

innumerable people are illiterate, letterless, without food, blind,
Why are you not teaching them the path?

people stay without sufficient income, the entire society is economically challenged
society is lifeless, why are you unaware / unfeeling of this?
why did you not stay full of glory
you are decided, no worries
why don't you give inspiration to life
you are flowing through the middle, seen the villages of Kurushetra (where Mahabharat took place), mother of Bhishm (great uncle of Pandavs & Kauravs), in this new India why don't you give birth to sons like Bhishm again?

The Last Post....

The Last Post....

Do you know the story behind the song?

Reportedly, it all began in 1862 during the American Civil War, when Union Army Captain Robert Ellicombe was with his men near

Harrison's Landing in Virginia. The Confederate Army was on the other side of the narrow strip of land.

During the night, Captain Ellicombe heard the moans of a soldier who lay severely wounded on the field. Not knowing if it was a Union or Confederate soldier, the Captain decided to risk his life and bring the stricken man back for medical attention. Crawling on his stomach through the gunfire, the Captain reached the stricken soldier and began pulling him toward his encampment.

When the Captain finally reached his own lines, he discovered it was actually a Confederate soldier, but the soldier was dead.

The Captain lit a lantern and suddenly caught his breath and went numb with shock. In the dim light, he saw the face of the soldier. It was his own son. The boy had been studying music in the South when the war broke out. Without telling his father, the boy enlisted in

the Confederate Army.

The following morning, heartbroken, the father asked permission of his superiors to give his son a full military burial, despite his enemy status. His request was only partially granted.

The Captain had asked if he could have a group of Army band members play a funeral dirge for his son at the funeral.

The request was turned down since the soldier was a Confederate.

But, out of respect for the father, they did say they could give him

only one musician.

The Captain chose a bugler. He asked the bugler to play a series of musical notes he had found on a piece of paper in the

pocket of the dead youth's uniform.

This wish was granted.

The haunting melody, we now know as 'The Last Post' used at military funerals was born.

The words are:-

Day is done.
Gone the sun.
From the lakes
From the hills.
From the sky.
All is well.
Safely rest.
God is nigh.
-------
Fading light.
Dims the sight.
And a star.
Gems the sky.
Gleaming bright.
From afar.
Drawing nigh.
Falls the night.
-------
Thanks and praise.
For our days.
Neath the sun
Neath the stars.
Neath the sky
As we go.
This we know.
God is nigh
